Curatorial Practice MFA Thesis Exhibition: Circulation Desk

Date
April 12, 2019 – May 5, 2019
Location
Menial Collection
243 W. Read St  Baltimore, MD 21201

Students in MICA’s MFA in Curatorial Practice program complete curatorial projects and collaborate with artists, organizations, and venues. Each student works in a variety of contexts and formats while forging partnerships across audiences and communities.

The Menial Collection presents Circulation Desk, curated by Maria Emilia Duno, a four-part workshop series and exhibition with artists Pablo Helguera, Ada Pinkston, Ruby Waldo, Brown Art Ink and Jenny Ferretti. From April 12 – May 5, facilitating artists will hold weekly programs in The Menial Collection transforming the library into a site for curation, play, and communal knowledge production. While highlighting how traditional academic spaces limit access and exclude that which is deemed subjective or invalid, the workshops strive to reinsert the notion of care to the curatorial and collectivity to cultural production.
