What inspired this collection: Original fine art and limited edition print pieces from my personal archive created at MICA and the Corcoran. 

What visitors will take away: A smile!! Also some of our art. Financially supporting artists is essential!

Amanda Adams ’13 | Close Call Studio

What inspired this collection: My current work is leaning more absurdity and dark humor

Bio: Amanda Adams is a multi-disciplinary artist and podcaster based out of Baltimore, MD. She earned her BFA in Photography and Bookmaking from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2013 which is where she started Close Call Studio and has been exploring new ways of creating art ever since.
Close Call Studio is a fiber art, photo, video and illustration practice that creates work designed to bring playfulness, joy and some dark humor to spaces. Everything is made by hand from original designs and all materials are recycled/reclaimed (even the felt used is made out of post consumer plastic bottles) and vegan.

What inspired this collection: My inspiration really comes from noticing the little things, flowers, colors, textures, that make life beautiful, and bringing them to life through embroidery.

What visitors will take away: I hope people leave with a little joy in life’s small, beautiful details - like what I try to capture in my embroidery.

Bio: I’m a graphic designer and embroidery artist based in Washington, D.C. I love bringing little moments of beauty to life with needle and thread, creating pieces that are unique, textured, and full of warmth.

What inspired this collection: Our return to Mica after 23 years!

Bio: We are a small woodworking shop specializing in wooden food related products. We make cutting boards, salad bowls, decorative bowls and wooden spoons. We sell our wares weekly at a Farmers Market in Cleveland Ohio.

What inspired this collection: Transitional spaces in nature

What visitors will take away: That landscape painting is alive and well

Bio: This body of work is about nature and pattern. The paintings are intended to suggest sharp detail. This detail is not the result of careful observational rendering, but instead a build up of patterned mark and color. All living things grow, they grow according to a pattern, and they impact the patterns of the life around them. This work is intended to mimic that process through the physical act of painting.

Fawn Lowell ’25 

3 words to describe your style: Cute, vibrant, whimsical

What inspired this collection: I am inspired by other needle felt artists who create adorable designs and products, which spark ideas for my own line of charming little pieces. I also draw inspiration from my time working at summer camp, where I notice the types of jewelry, stories, and characters that kids are drawn to.

What visitors will take away: Some of my needle felted earrings! 

Bio: Specializing in needle-felted earrings and keychains, each piece is handmade with care, attention, and a playful spirit. The collection features charming critters like frogs, turtles, snails, ducks, and goldfish, alongside vibrant fruits and whimsical objects such as mushrooms, stars, teeth, and acorns. In addition to wearable art, the table will also showcase stickers of original watercolor children’s book characters and prints from thesis artwork, offering a delightful mix of storytelling and creativity.

Edward Alban ’25 

3 words to describe your style: Queer, Comics, Domestic

What inspired this collection: As a comics artist, I am inspired to create work that warms the heart, much like a comforting cup of hot cocoa on a winter day.

What visitors will take away: Life can be overwhelming at times, but it is always okay to pause, take a breath, and simply enjoy a moment of fun.

Bio: Edward Alban is a queer comics artist based in Baltimore whose work is deeply inspired by science fiction, fantasy, and the world of vampires. At the Art Market, he shares mini comics and prints that reflect his unique storytelling voice. Edward also collaborates with his partner, artist Fawn Lowell, showcasing her whimsical needle-felted creations alongside his own, creating a shared space filled with imagination and craft.

What inspired this collection: I’ve been exploring fleeting moments of romance, heartbreak, and connection through quick, expressive fine art screenprinting.

What visitors will take away: That early-career printmakers bring bold voices to the fine art world, especially through cartoon and illustration.

Bio: Justin Remo is a Baltimore-based printmaker and designer whose work uses chaotic cartoon imagery to tell stories of isolation, loneliness, and human connection. A recent graduate of MICA’s Printmaking BFA program, Justin has shown work in solo and juried exhibitions and was the winner of MICA’s 2024 UP/START Competition for his graphic novel series Dust.
