The Census occurs only once every ten years and counts everyone in the entire country. Census results help determine how billions of dollars in federal funding flow into states and communities each year – for hospitals, fire departments, school lunch programs, roads and highways, and many other critical programs and services. The results also determine how many seats in Congress each state gets.
Note: The deadline to complete the 2020 Census has been changed to Oct. 31, 2020.
