Important Information About Hours of Operation

As MICA responds to the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, operational hours on campus will be impacted. Please read the information below for information on health, dining, library, postal, and shuttle services.

As the State of Maryland enacts increasingly strict policies curtailing operations of non-essential businesses, MICA will continue to adapt its operations accordingly.  

  • Lazarus Studio, Brown, Fox, and 81 Mosher are open until 11 p.m., March 27, and are accessible by card swipe for graduate students, staff, and faculty for the purpose of moving out of their studios and/or obtaining equipment or materials to work remotely.
  • All other buildings are open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and are accessible by card swipe to staff and faculty only. Access is solely for employees who need to obtain items needed to work remotely, and not for in-office work.
  • After March 27, all academic buildings will be closed for all students, staff and faculty.
  • Employees who need to access academic buildings will need to make arrangements with campus safety prior to their arrival on campus. Access will only be granted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. In order to contact campus safety, please call the non emergency number at 410-225-2245.

Student Health Center

The Student Health Center is currently scheduled to be open half days in the mornings from 8:30am - 12:00pm.  Student are requested to contact Student Health at (410) 225-4118 or where clinical staff will be available to address any concerns including, but not limited to, medication management, supportive health care, and any acute issues needing medical attention. 

Dining Halls

Cafe Doris will close at 5 p.m. on March 30.

Meyerhoff Dining Room, Glace Grill, Java Corner, and Nancy in the Fred Lazarus Center are closed.

Decker Library

Decker Library is closed.

Postal & Print

Postal & Print Services will continue operations as an essential service to send and receive MICA related business mail and packages.  Departmental mail is available for pickup on Wednesdays from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm only, or by forwarding to a designated staff member of each department. 


We want to keep foot traffic into Postal Ops at an absolute minimum so we strongly recommend that each department have their mail forwarded to a designated representative rather than have someone come to campus to pick it up.

Shuttle Service

There will be a shuttle service for the students remaining on campus in the Gateway to grocery stores and pharmacies only, which are permitted under the Governor’s Stay at Home order on March 30.  These shuttles will make several runs per day, two days per week.

To maintain social distancing on the shuttles, only five students will be allowed to ride on each run of the shuttle.  A sign-up sheet with multiple time slots will be available at the guard desk in the Gateway listing the times that each shuttle will run.  Specific dates and times are being worked out now and will be communicated directly with the students involved through Residence Life.

The MICA Store

The MICA Store is closed.
