Young Ones Honors MICA Excellence in Graphic Design

The Young Ones competition honors the best student work in advertising, interactive design, and graphic design. As a result of student success, MICA ranked as a top 10 college for design and advertising.

A Gold Cube prize went to Kanika Anand ’25 for her design thesis, “Weather Futures,” with support from faculty mentors Ellen Lupton, Jeff Glendenning, and Jennifer Cole Phillips. A Type High Gold Award went to Athang Samant ’27 for the “Gallery of Decay,” with support from faculty Jennifer Cole Phillips and Jeff Glendenning.

Bronze Cube winners at the competition include Aayush Agarwal ’26 for “Twenty-One Laps,” with support from faculty mentor Andrew Walters; Alexandria Pak ’26 created a brand system identity called “Peter Shire: Radical Geometry,” which was supported by faculty Andrew Walters; Gold Cube winner Kanika Anand also received a bronze for her UX/UI work called “Cookup,” which she worked on with faculty mentors Stephanie Kotula and Juliette Wang; Gia Chen ’27 won for packaging titled “Bare: Nipple Cover Packaging;” and Harshith Ramesh ’27 for “Sonic Mix” packaging design, with mentor support from Jennifer Cole Phillips. Type High Bronze awards also went to Athang Samant ’27 for “Acoustica Latin and Devangari” and “IND Stencil Latin and Devangari” in the category of type design and text + design typefaces.
