Paintings by MICA alum Chidinma Dureke ’25 (LeRoy E. Hoffberger School of Painting MFA) can be seen throughout the Sony motion picture “One of Them Days”, produced by Issa Rae and starring Keke Palmer and SZA. Dureke was commissioned by Rae’s HOORAE and ColorCreative to paint oil on canvas painting of cast members Palmer and Joshua Neal. Other pieces by Dureke were used on set for SZA’s character, Alyssa, who is an aspiring painter.

Dureke’s diverse experience include production design, set decoration, and art direction for films in the Washington D.C. area and in Los Angeles. Recently, she was selected out of 1,500 applicants to be one of four production designers for Issa Rae’s 2023 Find Your People Program in Los Angeles. She also designed ColorCreative’s “Contours” (2024), which screened at the 2025 Slamdance Film Festival.
