President Hoi's Holiday Message for 2020

December 22, 2020

Dear MICA Community Members,

I wish you a restorative winter break after a momentous 2020. I hope you can now find time to rest, enjoy time with loved ones, and do things that feed your spirit and soul.

As we eagerly bid farewell to a year unlike any other, we can also look back and reflect on what this year has brought forth that will help us forge ahead in 2021. Voices heard. Lessons learned. Innovation gained. New paths being shaped.

No matter the challenges, the creative, bold, and caring spirit of MICA community members continues to shine forth. You inspire confidence that innovation and creativity, engagement and purpose—all central elements of MICA’s mission and vision—will turn the hope that comes with the new year into reality.

In observation of our campus’ caring spirit, MICA is redirecting the budget allocated for the traditional year-end holiday party and sending all employees that have been affected by the summer and fall furloughs (not including mandatory leave without pay) a special tax-free gift of $100. Checks are being mailed this week and currently furloughed employees will be notified by HR directly.

I close with my warmest wishes to you and your families for a 2021 filled with health, happiness, and inspiration.

With gratitude,

Samuel Hoi
President
