May 15 Staff Memo

Invitation to special staff town hall to discuss the R5 Roadmap and next year's budget plans.

May 15, 2020

Dear MICA Staff,

I invite you to a special Staff Town Hall on Monday, May 18, at 12:30 p.m. that follows up on the Community Town Hall on May 11.

We were very encouraged by the broad participation and interest from the staff and all the MICA constituencies at the Community Town Hall.  Over 650 participated! We have heard positive feedback about the One-MICA R5 Roadmap and many of you have expressed interest in participating in the workgroups and other efforts to help shape a strong and resilient MICA for the future. Thank you for your commitment to rise through the pandemic crisis together despite the challenges ahead.

We also know there are specific questions from the staff that could not be fully answered this past Monday due to time and the scope of the Community Town Hall. The questions range from how the R5 Roadmap will be implemented, the different potential academic scenarios for the fall semester, and the budget measures for the next fiscal and academic year.  Earlier this week, the proposed budget plans for FY21 received full support from the Board of Trustees’ Finance and Executive Committees. Given the level of staff interest and with these endorsements, we would like to now share those plans with you ahead of the full Board Meeting on May 22 when the FY21 budget is expected to be formally adopted.

To join the Staff Town Hall on Monday, May 18 at 12:30 p.m., please register in advance for this meeting here: Town Hall Zoom Registration.  You will hear then additional information about the R5 Roadmap, next year’s budget plans, and response to other questions you may have.  If there are particular areas you would like to have addressed, please submit those questions using this link: Town Hall Questions - One MICA R5 Roadmap.

I look forward to seeing you on Monday.

Very best,
Sammy
