Mallory Van Fossen

Part-Time Faculty / Master of Arts in Teaching

Mallory Van Fossen, MA, ATR-BC, LCPAT (she/her) is a licensed, board-certified Art Therapist and Clinical Coordinator of the Arts in Health Program at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). Her clinical expertise focuses on supporting individuals recovering from traumatic brain injury and survivors of military sexual assault. Her service and leadership have been recognized with multiple awards and honors from the Director of WRNMMC and the National Capital Region.

In addition to her clinical work, Mallory is a founding associate faculty member at Notre Dame of Maryland University, where she designs and teaches courses in the Graduate Art Therapy Program. She serves as part-time faculty in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program at MICA.

Mallory holds an MA in Art Therapy from Drexel University and a BFA from MICA (‘08). She is a frequent national presenter, with speaking engagements including the United Nations General Assembly Healing Arts Week, the American Art Therapy Association Annual Conference, the National Institutes of Health, and public radio. She is former President of the Maryland Art Therapy Association.

Her artwork explores the complex intersection of motherhood and self-identity, using mixed media to convey themes of transformation, generational influence, and narratives of lived experience.
