Louis Fratino ’15 (Painting BFA) creates deeply intimate paintings and drawings from personal memory and the quietly sublime offerings of everyday life. His figurative subjects include lovers, friends, family, and the artist himself, rendering the human body as a site of vast emotive expression. His works are held in numerous collections around the world, including those in New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Miami, Munich, and Sydney among others.
Recently, Fratino was selected to show his work in the 60th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. A two-person presentation placing Fratino’s work in dialogue with that of Henri Matisse is currently on view at the Baltimore Museum of Art, Fratino and Matisse: To See This Light Again, through September 2026.
Fratino is currently represented by David Zwirner.
