Lorraine Darrow has worked in the French film industry for more than twenty years. Throughout this time, she wrote and directed her own films, animated shorts, and documentaries. Her feature film Passages was broadcasted in Europe through Arte. Her short animation films Little Sisters was selected at the Cannes Film Festival and won Best Short Film at the International London Film Festival. Portrait of Josette with a Hat won best short film at the International Chicago Children’s Film Festival.
In 2005 she went to Chicago for an English-language film project under the supervision of the Wachowski sisters. She also started teaching screenwriting and cinema at DePaul University where she obtained an MFA in screenwriting, and at the Maryland Institute College of Art. During that time she wrote many films and television series projects.
Now settled in France, she wrote her first novel for young readers, Leo et la Cité Mécanique published by Sarbacane in 2023. She just finished another novel for young adults La Dame de l’eau (The Woman of the Water) for l’École des loisirs. She’s currently working on the pre-production of her feature, Traction, for Elizabeth Bay Productions.
