June 2 Campus Memo

Information around MICA employee COVID-19 vaccinations.

Dear MICA employees,

With summer officially underway, the College continues its planning for a primarily in-person fall semester. Widespread vaccination is essential to protect the health and safety of our MICA community.

Having a high percentage of vaccinated individuals at MICA is foundational to community trust and feelings of safety.

Knowing MICA’s percentage of vaccinated for sound policy, health and safety, and budget decisions for this coming academic year.

We need to hear from you.

It’s critically important for all MICA employees do two things:

  1. Register your proof of vaccination (vaccine card) within Workday. This is how we will be able to know MICA’s percentage of vaccinated individuals.
  2. Answer the one question survey that lets us know that you have completed your upload, if you need help, if you need transportation to obtain your vaccine, or if you are vaccine hesitant.

Your timely response supports our staff colleagues who will reconfigure the MICA campus for Operational Mode 4—updating signage, replacing furniture, and planning indoor/outdoor space usage for our community.

Upload Proof of Vaccination to Workday, Win MICA Store Swag!

All employees who have uploaded their proof of vaccination to Workday by Friday, June 11 will automatically be entered into a drawing to win MICA Store swag! So if you’ve been vaccinated and haven’t yet uploaded, now is the time. If you’ve already uploaded, thank you—you’re already entered!

We’ve created this short video to help with the Workday uploading process.

Also—Don’t Forget About the Survey!

MICA’s one-question survey continues to be a critical planning tool for the fall semester. As of this writing, roughly one third of our community has responded. If you have already done so, thank you. If you haven’t, please do so now. It takes under a minute and will benefit the community greatly. Human Resources will be contacting individuals who have not yet responded over the coming weeks.

Finally, A Few Reminders:

If You Have Not Yet Been Vaccinated

We urge you to do so at one of the many pharmacies, clinics, and other venues offering vaccinations. To help in finding locations and booking appointments, MICA Mutual Aid—an initiative started by MICA students, staff, and faculty—provides a compilation of vaccination-related information and resources. Additionally, the One MICA Slack channels #covid-19  and #vax_alerts provide community-supported and real-time vaccine related announcements. Information on joining the One MICA Slack channel can be found in Recap 14.

If you are outside of the immediate area but still in the US, we encourage you to connect with your local health departments for information about receiving a vaccine appointment or by using vaccines.gov.

If You Are Hesitant to Be Vaccinated

While science has shown that vaccination is the safest, most effective way to help protect ourselves, our families, friends, and the larger community, we understand that you may still be hesitant about being vaccinated. If you are, we encourage you to talk to your local pharmacist or physician as well as review the current data on the safety of COVID-19 vaccines.

Additionally, MICA will host a Vaccine Information Session in June for community members who are vaccine hesitant or are interested in learning more about the COVID-19 vaccines.

Finally, please look for additional information regarding vaccination policies in the next issue of Recap, the upcoming June 16 One MICA Town Hall, and further communications from the College.

Thank you for your continued commitment to the safety and wellbeing of the MICA community.

Be well and stay safe.
