July 14 HR Memo

Outlines the employee vaccination requirements.

Dear MICA Employees,

I hope you are all well.

This memo serves as an update to the May 14 campus communication, MICA’s COVID-19 Approach for Fall 2021. In that memo, we noted: “As widespread vaccination is essential for a safe return to in-person, on-campus, ongoing operations, extending the vaccination requirement to all MICA employees is now under serious consideration.”  Since that time, the College has finalized its employee vaccination policy and is mandating COVID-19 vaccinations for all non fully-remote employees for the fall semester. (Please see the MICA Telework Policy for the definition of remote employees.)

There are two options to be compliant with MICA’s vaccination mandate. MICA employees who are not fully remote must either:

  1. Be fully vaccinated with a US-based vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson) with proof of vaccination uploaded into Workday. Watch a short video on how to do this.
  2. Receive an approved exemption from the People, Belonging, and Culture by submitting a vaccination exemption form.

You may view the full policy here.

We believe the policy is flexible enough to be respectful of an employee’s personal beliefs while still providing robust health and safety measures for our community. We appreciate your continued support of, and adherence to, MICA’s ongoing efforts and guidelines to keep our community safe.

Please direct any questions regarding this policy to Freida Johnson in People, Belonging and Culture at fjohnson01@mica.edu.

Stay safe and be well,

Charlene Hayes
