As previously communicated, all students will be required to test for COVID-19 twice upon return to campus. All students must test on-campus within 72 hours of arrival, and again 5-7 calendar days later. See a breakdown of when to get tested based on your campus arrival in the latest issue of Recap.
MICA’s testing site will be open beginning Wednesday, January 5, 2022 through January 28, 2022. Information regarding the testing site hours is below.
On campus tests are 100% self-service and self-administered, and require the use of a smartphone app. Following the instructions below will ensure that you register and administer the test correctly and you remain in compliance with MICA’s testing requirement.
Instructions for on-campus testing:
Location: Gateway Building,1st Floor, BBOX.
Testing hours: Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. No appointment needed.
*The testing location will be closed on Martin Luther King Day, January 17, 2022.
Before arriving at BBOX, download the MGScanner App (Apple or Android): and register through the app. If you have participated in MICA’s testing program in the past, you are already registered. You will use the MGScanner app to register your test each time you take one.
If you are new to testing at MICA and have not received an email from Maryland Genomics/MG Scanner, please search your email inbox, including your spam folder OR go into the app and request another registration email to complete your registration. In the app, click on the menu at top right, select "Contact Us" and request "Need a new registration email" and follow the registration instructions in the email.
Upon arrival at Gateway Building, BBOX:
- Complete and sign a paper Release of Information Form: This form allows MICA’s healthcare providers to review and communicate with you about your COVID-19 test results. You will then receive a swab and vial to self-administer the PCR COVID-19 test.
- Self-administer the PCR COVID-19 Test:
- Scan the vial with the MGScanner App
- Collect your sample and drop off your finished vial
Test Results: MICA will receive all test results and will contact positive cases. If you are positive, please see the COVID Exposure 3 Ps for further reference.
If you are symptomatic, do not present at BBOX for testing and Contact Student Health Services (410-225-4118) for further guidance. Please refer to the COVID Exposure 3 Ps for full steps.
As a reminder, students are strongly encouraged to take a PCR COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to arrival on campus. If you test positive, stay home until medically cleared. Please contact Student Health Services (410-225-4118) to notify them of this test result.
