I am heartened that so many of you are paying close attention to the College’s start of semester information, and that you continue to be so committed to protecting not only your own health, but that of the broader MICA community. Thank you!
Several of you have made note of the College’s suggestion that you stagger your arrival through the first week of classes in order to avoid congestion on campus during the first week. In fact, at least some of you are planning to return to campus late enough that you may not be able to complete both of your required on-campus COVID-19 tests, and you are wondering how to comply with this requirement. I want to clarify the College’s expectations so there is no confusion.
Please make certain that your return to campus plan complies with the requirements of your scheduled courses. If you have in-person course meetings scheduled for the second week of classes (January 24th - 28th) it is your responsibility to be present for those sessions.
- Any student who takes their first on-campus test by Thursday, January 20th will be able to take their second required test, 5 to 7 days later, on or before Thursday, January 27th when the primary testing site is scheduled to close.
- Any student who arrives on campus after the 20th can still comply with MICA’s COVID-19 testing requirement, but in order to do so that student must take their first test no later than Thursday, January 27th. MICA will have the ability to provide a limited number of 2nd tests on Monday, January 31st and Tuesday, February 1st (only up to 11am on February 1st). Students who expect to take their first test after January 20th must email email@example.com by noon on January 20th so we can make certain the appropriate amount of second tests are available.
As a reminder all F1 and J1 international students are required to be physically present at MICA no later than January 24th, to comply with MICA policy and avoid jeopardizing their visa status. Questions regarding international student late arrivals should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have any additional questions about the start of semester testing program please contact email@example.com.
