If creative makers flourish through collaboration, MICA alum Jen Stark ’05 (Fiber BFA) is soaring. The Los Angeles-based artist has embarked on a number of high-profile partnerships in recent years, most recently with the footwear giant Skechers — where her blissful, rainbow-hued drip designs are the first to be featured by the brand in its new Artist Design Series.

The Skechers x Jen Stark collection, which debuted this August, features the MICA alum’s visually distinct aesthetic on three of the company’s most popular styles. Described by Skechers as a "kaleidoscope of constant play," Stark’s work is the first featured in the new series, which will spotlight the work of dynamic artists on its products in a run of launches through 2024.

"Through our new Visual Artist Series, we offer consumers unique wearable art that can transform our product in the way that only art can — and Jen Stark’s the perfect visionary to introduce this new collection," said Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers. "Her patterns come to life in everything she creates."

As a visual artist, muralist, and designer, Stark uses psychedelic colors to explore patterns found in nature through a variety of media, including paper sculpture, interactive installations, and animation. Her work is included in the collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and MOCA Miami, among others, and it has been featured in major shows around the world. In recent collaborations, she has teamed with iconic brands such as Smashbox, Postmates, Vans, and Ultimate Ears in addition to Skechers. Stark also created original animations and artwork for the 32nd MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by Miley Cyrus in 2015.
