Douglas Barkey is a bi-lingual higher education leader, teacher, and artist with international experience. He has been involved in post-secondary education for artists and designers for over 20 years, including administrative and instructional work in traditional and online classrooms for undergraduate and graduate studies. As an educator and administrator, Barkey has held leadership roles across multiple institutions, including Chair of the Department of Visual Arts at Sage Colleges, Dean of the School of Arts & Design at Santa Fe Community College, Director of Teaching and Learning Effectiveness at the Art Institute and Dean of the Faculty of Liberal and Fine Arts at the University of The Bahamas. He currently serves as Dean of the School of Creative and Professional Studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where he works in the School for Creative and Professional Studies on the intersection of curriculum development, program innovation, and arts education leadership.
