Barbara Epstein Gruber studied at Catonsville Community College and received her BFA in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She was a candidate at the University of Pennsylvania MFA program and received her MFA in Studio Art from Brooklyn College.
Ms Epstein Gruber has been featured in numerous one and two man shows and group shows and her work has been selected on both the national and regional levels by such esteemed jurors as Klauss Kertess of the Whitney Museum, Bernard Chaet, George Gurney of the Smithsonian and Doreen Bolger of the BMA. She has won Best in Show and Honorable Mention awards on both the regional and national level and her work is represented in private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Europe, Israel and the UK. Most recently Ms Gruber was the 2024 Artist in Residence at the International Institute of Contemporary Art and Theory in Bucharest. She is currently an instructor at the Johns Hopkins University and the Maryland Institute College of Art.
