Allan Comport

Allan Comport has worked in the commercial art industry as an advocate, artist representative, creative director, and instructor. Allan has been a faculty member at MICA since 2002, serving as Illustration Department Chair from 2016–2023. He has worked with scores of notable illustrators, photographers, and designers in a wide variety of ad agencies, design firms, magazines, newspapers, publishers, and corporations internationally as an artist representative at Shannon Associates and C.O.O. of Blue Pixel. Allan has been a guest lecturer for Adobe, the Illustrators Conference, and served as a reviewer in Painting & Illustration for the Fulbright Scholar Program.

Sally Wern Comport and Art at Large, Inc. contributed to all-new Top of the Rock experience at Rockefeller Center with THG Creative and their client Tishman Speyer Before patrons make their way to the top of the 70th floor for a breathtaking 360-degree view of New York City, they are greeted with over 304 linear feet of custom murals throughout the Welcome Gallery created and hand-painted by Sally Wern Comport. The traditional murals echo the true craftsmanship and detail of Rockefeller Center’s architecture. + Enlarge
Art at Large, Inc. and Charles Mack Design worked with guest curator Dr. Jonathan Michael Square as well as Alexandra Deutsch and Kim Collison of Winterthur Museum to actualize an imagined “Afric-American Picture Gallery” as described in the 1859 essay of the same name written by William J. Wilson, or ETHIOP. Dr. Square selected historic objects from Winterthur’s collection to represent the essay’s fictionalized description of the “almost unknown Gallery,” even as the text ventures off into the surreal... Our team was tasked with helping the visitor journey through the essay by enhancing the built environment around the objects—or “Pictures”—in the gallery.
