NEXT STEPS

Ready to join MICA’s talented community of artists and designers? Submit your Declaration of Intent Form and pay your Tuition Deposit to secure your spot in the next incoming class. The priority decision deadline for Spring 2027 is December 1, 2026.

MICA's Spring 2027 Housing Application opens October 19, 2026!  Click here to submit your housing application

We are so excited to welcome you to the MICA and help you plan your move to Baltimore! Make sure to complete the Housing Application to be matched with roommates and apartment mates. 

First-time, first-year students and transfer students entering at the freshman or sophomore level are required to live in on-campus housing. For information on exemptions, please refer to the housing exemption policy here. 

Please note: If you have previously completed a housing application for another semester, you are required to complete a new housing application for the semester you will be starting.

Applying for your F-1 visa is a multi-step process and it is very important that you complete all of the steps necessary. If you have any questions about the visa process, please email us at GlobalEducation@mica.edu.

  1. Submit I-20 documents to your student portal
  2. Obtain your MICA I-20
  3. Pay I-901 SEVIS Fee
  4. Apply for F-1 Student Visa
  5. Pay Visa Application Fee
  6. Schedule Visa Interview at U.S. Embassy/Consulate
  7. Attend Visa Interview
  8. Receive F-1 Student Visa

For Current F-1 Visa Holders, submit the following, if you already have a valid F-1 visa. If your F-1 visa is expired then you will need to reapply for an F-1 visa:

  1. Submit I-20 documents to your student portal
  2. Obtain your MICA I-20
  3. Pay SEVIS Fee

Transferring your I-20 (only active I-20s can be transferred)

  1. Have your previous school transfer your I-20 to MICA
  2. Submit I-20 documents to your student portal
  3. Receive your MICA I-20


Regarding the required documents to receive your I-20, please check your student portal for a list of outstanding requirements. If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out to your Admission Counselor. Undergraduate students can email admission@mica.edu, and graduate students can email graduate@mica.edu

**Requests for deferral will only be accepted from November 15-January 15 for Spring admits, and April 1-July 1 for Fall admits. Defer requests will not be accepted outside of these windows.**

Students admitted for the Fall semester are allowed to defer to the following Spring or following Fall term. Students cannot defer their admission beyond one year past the term they were originally admitted for. At that point, they must submit a new application to be considered for admission to the College. If you would like to defer your admission to a future term, you will need to fill out the Admission Deferral Request form. This will serve as your official request to defer.

Planning to earn transfer credits?

For first year applicants, if you are planning on taking college classes (for credit) at another institution during your deferral, you will need to reapply as a transfer for your new term. You can learn more about the transfer admission process here.
