  • MICA Photo ID (MICArd)
A MICA ID is required to gain access to campus buildings, and housing facilities, and to access your meal plan. It is important to complete the Google Form by the deadline (May 30) to have your ID ready for you to pick up on Move-in day.  Students who do not complete this step will have difficulty accessing campus buildings and swiping for meal plans until they can go to Campus Safety and get an ID created.

    Instructions for taking your photo:
Photo should be from the shoulders up, showing entire head straight on with a blank light colored background. Do not wear sunglasses, hats or other props in the photo.

  • Packing List
Check out our suggested Packing List for Residential students to help you prepare for your time in residence! We provide trash bags and toilet paper.
*Please note we highly recommend each student bring a debit/credit card for any emergency purchase such as prescription medication or a co-pay at an urgent care, as our program cannot cover those costs, even temporarily. We also recommend bringing a roll of quarters for doing laundry.

  • Set up your MICA account credentials
Look for an email called "Welcome to MICA!" (check spam)
Follow the instructions in the email, write down your user name and password in a safe place. These credentials will be used to access all software and computers on campus, as well as the wi-fi. If you do not yet have your Welcome to MICA! email please contact help@mica.edu directly for assistance.

All enrolled MICA students get access to a Google Suite Account. This includes Gmail and Drive. To access any of your Google products:  Go to accounts.google.com > Login with your MICA email and password > Email: (username)@mica.edu, Password: created during account activation.

  • Adding funds to your MICArd Flex Account (do not attempt to add funds prior to June 1)
What is a MICArd? Official college identification card to access campus buildings and studios, your campus debit card (Flex account funds) to be used at the College Store, the Print Lab, Library, campus Post Office, and at vending machines, and your library card.  Cash withdrawals can not be made from Flex accounts. Flex account balances greater than $5.00 will automatically be refunded within 45 days after the completion of the PreCollege program.

*While each course is different, we suggest an average of $300 for materials be added to flex for each 2-week program. Some courses may cost less, than others.

    1. Add Funds
    2. Enter the Student's ID, First and Last Name (Student ID can be found on their acceptance letter)
*Note an ID needs to be 9 digits, so add zeros before the ID number if it is less than 9 digits.

  • Receiving Mail & Packages
Beginning 1 week before the start date of each session, packages and mail may be received for students.  Packages may NOT be ordered or sent 1 week before the program start date. Packages may not be ordered or sent with a delivery date after the program has ended. Please refrain from ordering or requesting perishable items including groceries (Amazon Fresh) or food orders (DoorDash) as direct delivery to Leake Hall is not possible and perishable items cannot be refrigerated. Mail and packages will be available at the PreCollege Office in Leake shortly after delivery to MICA’s campus (No weekend deliveries). If you have questions about a missing package, please email your tracking number to MICA Postal & Print: postalandprint@mica.edu

    Receiving Mail & Packages: Amazon

If unable to arrive during the designated move-in times, please contact precollege@mica.edu. Make sure you complete your Travel Itinerary by May 30. (Visit the Travel Itinerary Section for more details)

When students arrive, they should check in at the registration desk where they will get their apartment keys, MICA ID (MICArd) and can get settled in. There is only one elevator in Leake Hall, so we suggest packing light, and we will have staff on hand to assist. A welcome greeting will begin at 2pm, with options to follow for parents/guardians to tour the campus or have questions answered. Students will meet their Community Assistant and Student Orientation will begin following the welcome greeting.

    Room Condition
Students will complete a Room Condition Form (RCF) shortly after moving in. This form should be filled out completely and thoroughly to avoid charges when you move out. This form will be used at move-out to assess any damages. Because these forms do not list every possible thing that you can be charged for, you may be responsible for damages not listed on the form. Important Note: Homasote boards are located in each bedroom and common space. They are for pinning artwork to for coursework only, where only minor marks are expected. Boards should not be drawn on, painted or otherwise altered and charges for repainting will apply if this occurs

    Food on Move-in Day
Complimentary snacks and water will be available on move-in day for families. Lunch may be available for purchase either at Meyerhoff House Dining Room if open, or locally in the neighborhood for both students and their families. The first covered meal for students as part of their meal plan will be dinner on move-in day.

    Storage
The college does not have storage space available for PreCollege students. Residents must store all of their belongings in their apartments. Any furniture in the apartment at move-in, must be present throughout the program and at move-out.
