In Fall 2025, Decker Library launched a new event series, Research Open Mics, every third Friday of the month from 12-1pm during the Fall and Spring semesters.

About Research Open Mic

Mimicking the first-come, first-serve and informal nature of an open mic, Research Open Mic gives anyone at MICA the opportunity to share a research project they are currently working on.

Each open mic features 3-4 presenters, presentations are 10 mins each, and Q&A follows. These presentations do not need to be solely academic projects–we welcome opportunities for artists and designers to showcase the importance of research in their studio practice.

Research Open Mic has given students, staff, and faculty a chance to share their work, find like-minded people, and learn more about the diversity of research activities happening on campus.
