Elizabeth Homan brings more than two decades of experience in public relations, marketing, and brand strategy to her new role as vice president for marketing and communications at MICA.
A mission-driven and creative leader, she has helped colleges elevate institutional visibility, strengthen enrollment, increase alumni engagement, and manage moments of crisis and transformation. Before joining MICA, she worked at Juniata College as the vice president for strategic marketing and communications, where she led a comprehensive redevelopment of the institutional brand and directed an award-winning redesign of the alumni magazine into a modern storytelling publication.
While the executive director of public relations and marketing at Howard Community College, she realigned communication staff from across the college into a centralized public relations and marketing team. She developed data-driven marketing campaigns to drive enrollment in new academic programs, co-chaired a strategic enrollment management committee, and represented the college as the chief media spokesperson.
Earlier in her career, she directed communications at Montgomery College, a multicampus community college in Montgomery County, Md. She held progressively responsible positions as media relations director, associate director of communications, and director of communications. In these roles, she secured top-tier news coverage, launched new digital multimedia tools for presidential communications, and unified three campus identities into a singular, cohesive brand.
Elizabeth began her professional career as a reporter and anchor at cable channels in Maryland before serving as a reporter at the NBC affiliate station in Boise, Idaho.
Throughout her career, Elizabeth’s volunteer work has reflected her ongoing commitment to community partnerships. She currently serves on the board of Huntingdon Landmarks and on the programming committee for CUPRAP, a membership organization for marketing and public relations professionals in higher education. She previously held leadership roles at the American Association for Women in Community Colleges and the Howard County Housing Commission. Elizabeth earned her master’s degree in public relations from Georgetown University, a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Towson University, and a bachelor’s degree in English from Transylvania University.
