Jessica Weglein Goldstein

alumna Jessica Goldstein '13

MPS Business of Art & Design

Class of 2013

from: Baltimore, Maryland

Jessica Weglein Goldstein '13 loves public relations. It stems from the stories that aren't told. "I love helping tell the stories of others, and I want to find the most remarkable stories out there." Her passion for stories was embraced during her undergraduate years while studying journalism, communication and studio art at the University of Maryland, College Park and while abroad. "I explored which ways I could best tell [stories] by interning on the Irish TV station Radio Telefís Éireann's (RTÉ) Prime Time news magazine show." She also created movies out of still photos through Adobe Premiere and drafted articles in the journalism school.

Her passions began to come together as she entered the job force in the public relations office of the Walters Art Museum.

In her current role as the head of public relations at MICA since 2009, she's told many stories staring various members of the College community. When she'd learned about the MPS Business of Art & Design program, she knew it would be the perfect fit for her. "I was excited about the possibility of pursuing this degree. I had not found another program that better supports my two interests in communication and the arts, and my wish to expand upon my business know-how."

As tough as the intensive 14-month program was, Goldstein liked the convenience of being able to study and attend classes anywhere and benefited from the relationships made, despite the program being online. "Since we connected through our class's Facebook page regularly, we all walked away knowing each other fairly well." She shared that the program has made her more confident and proactive in her decisions. "Throughout the program, I honed in on my personal motto: ‘champion creativity,' and I really believe that is my true motivator and what I'm doing here at MICA."
