MICA will use several internet-based systems to support the teaching/learning and administrative aspects of the program. Students and faculty will use MyMICA, the web-based enrollment, social networking, and learning management system of the MICA campus. As well, students and faculty will have access to a number of systems that will support video-conferencing, Web meetings, and other at-a-distance communication resources including Skype and Dim-Dim. These will enable face-to-face meetings and group lectures and conferences.
MICA's MyMICA system is comprised of:
- eLearning--a learning management system adapted for MICA and based on the Moodle open-source teaching and learning platform. This application enables student-teacher interaction across the web, supports web-based testing, drop-box, galleries, wikis, forums, chats, and other types of interactivity related to course work and projects;
- In addition to MICA's Decker Library and Media Resource Center (available to MPS students during their residencies at MICA) Business Source Premiere, is our main source of written material on the business of art and design, providing full text versions of more than 2,300 journals in all disciplines of business, including marketing, management, MIS (management information systems), POM (production and operations management), accounting, finance and economics. Students enrolled in the MPS will have full access to this research database.
All of these systems are available 24/7 and are accessible off-campus as well as on-campus.
