Meet Our Alumni
Ingrid Pimsner is a painter who works directly from life, creating intimate images of landscapes, still lives, and the figure. She is also the founder of The International Institute of Contemporary Art and Theory as well as co-curator of the Crane Archive Space Project. IICAT is an artist residency program that overlooks the Black Sea in Mangalia, Romania, and the Crane Archive Space Project is a gallery in Philadelphia. Ingrid received her BA in Fine Arts and Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. While there, she was awarded a Kelly Foundation Scholarship for her art, which allowed her to study at the International School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture in Umbria, Italy. She received her MA in Critical Studies from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2013. Her thesis was entitled, "Objects of contemplation within the space of painting : the still lifes of Giorgio Morandi, Euan Uglow, and Vivian van der Merwe."
