Dear Fellow MICA Parents,
This is the weekend you've been waiting for!
At its brand-new Fall time, Parent & Family Weekend is a once-a-year chance to spend time with your students, meet their friends, and greet the families of their classmates. We have found it to be a wonderful opportunity to participate in the MICA community. It's your chance to learn firsthand what it means to be a student at Maryland Institute College of Art and get a peek behind the scenes.
The staff and faculty have planned a lot of events to keep you informed and engaged. Learn how to talk with art students about their work. Hear about art-related careers you didn't know existed. Participate in the always popular hands-on classes and express your creativity as you try your hand at making art. Gather information about exciting student opportunities for international studies. Ask questions!
MICA's campus is positioned in the center of Baltimore's cultural community, which continues to enjoy a vibrant renaissance. Come and explore the city's renowned cultural treasures and entertainment venues. The official program begins Saturday morning, October 22, but we encourage you to consider arriving on Friday to enjoy additional opportunities to visit classes, talk to faculty, meet other parents, and informally explore the campus.
On behalf of MICA's Parents Council and the College, we cordially invite and encourage you to attend Parent & Family Weekend '16. You'll be glad you did.
We look forward to seeing you,
Mark Rosati P'18 & Maureen O'Donnell P'18

Be an art student for a day! Selected faculty invite parents into their classrooms,or you can arrange with your student to join them for a class. Friday evening you can have dinner at one of our great Baltimore restaurants and enjoy the sights, sounds, and energy of our city. We will have a free shuttle to help transport families to Hampden-a quaint and eclectic neighborhood near campus. And if you love Halloween, stop by the MICA Haunted House, an amazing, yearly student-run production.
Attend sessions designed to help you learn about the education of the artist at MICA, and classes that let you experience it yourself. You will also get the opportunity to chat with faculty members and campus representatives about the MICA experience and get answers to your most pressing questions.
Sunday is a low-key day so you can spend the last few hours with your student. Meyerhoff House will be open for brunch, or you can take your student out to brunch at one of many area brunch restaurants. We will also have a free shuttle that will take families and their students to the Inner Harbor.
