Updates to Artwork at Decker

Changes are coming to the library walls

Posted 02.09.18 by Allison Fischbach

You might have noticed some changes happening in the library - our artwork is gone!

We're planning some exciting new programming for Fall 2018 to give students, faculty, and staff the chance to showcase their own work in our space. We hope the library is a meetingplace where the many facets of the MICA Community can join in conversation, study, and exchange. Our goal is to see this mission reflected on our walls, where artists throughout MICA can display their work.

As we work to solidify this new program, Globe Press was kind enough to lend us some of their best and brightest posters from black musicians, singers, and performers as part of their Black History Month programming.

Stop in and take a look at the new work on our walls, and stay tuned for more information about exhibit opportunities for the entire MICA Community!

Founded in 1826, Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) is the oldest continuously degree-granting college of art and design in the nation. The College enrolls nearly 3,500 undergraduate, graduate and continuing studies students from 49 states and 52 countries in fine arts, design, electronic media, art education, liberal arts, and professional studies degree and non-credit programs. With art and design programs ranked in the top ten by U.S. News and World Report, MICA is pioneering interdisciplinary approaches to innovation, research, and community and social engagement. Alumni and programming reach around the globe, even as MICA remains a cultural cornerstone in the Baltimore/Washington region, hosting hundreds of exhibitions and events annually by students, faculty and other established artists.
