In an article entitled How I soul-searched my way to my major, my school, and my future happiness, MICA freshman Julia Wolkoff '14 talks about why she chose MICA over a list of liberal arts and fine arts schools that included Columbia University, Scripps, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Ontario College of Art and Sarah Lawrence.

In writing about her experience choosing a college, Wolkoff stated, "I wanted to find a school with a great art history major, but I also wanted to have a little fun with my education. In searching for a college, I discovered that I wanted innovation."

She said, "that's why I chose MICA. I get to make art, study art history, and most importantly, have an academic breakthrough and be able to put it into action with the full force of MICA behind me. MICA became my favorite. I prayed to get accepted, and I jumped for joy when I did."
