Ashley Minner (CAC '07) and Frankie Gamber (MICA Community Arts Coordinator)The Community Art Corps recently celebrated the end of the year with its annual exhibition Movin' Outside In located in the Pinkard Gallery in MICA's Bunting Center. The Community Art Corps members, many of whom are pursuing a Master's of Community Arts degree at MICA, work with a community organization throughout the year to use the arts to engage at-risk populations.

In conjunction with the exhibition and the end of the year, the Corporate, Foundation, and Government Relations team hosted a breakfast reception on Thursday, June 10 to celebrate the success of the program. This year, friends and allies from PNC Bank, the Goldseker Foundation, the Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts, the Governor's Office on Service & Volunteerism joined CAC members and site supervisors in enjoying the exhibition.

CAC member Zoe Reznick-Gewanter and former CAC member Ashley Minner shared their experiences. Reznick-Gewanter shared her work addressing homophobia with youth at New Lens, where youth create art and media for social justice. Her project culminated in a youth-created video, displayed at the exhibit. Ashley Minner (CAC '07) spoke fondly of her time as both a CAC member and an Open Society Institute fellow, and she shared her experiences as current director of the Native American American After School Art Program, where she has continued to work following her CAC member placement. Minner remarked that these two experiences have made the program possible.

This year marks the third year of the CAC breakfast reception to honor donors for their contributions. Please see the gallery on the right for photos of the event.
