Posted 05.30.08 by MICA Media Relations

BALTIMORE - Maryland Institute College of Art's annual "15x15 Alumni Exhibition and Sale" opens Thursday, June 5 in the Meyerhoff Gallery, Fox Building (1303 Mount Royal Avenue). A free, public reception takes place Sunday, June 8, 1-3 p.m. in the Meyerhoff Gallery. The exhibition, which continues through Sunday, June 22, features photographs, paintings, drawings, mixed media works and sculptures - each no more than 15 inches in any dimension - from about 270 local, national, and international MICA alumni. Graduation years range from 1944 to 2007. Prices range from less than $50 to nearly $3,000.

A 50 percent commission on the sale of any work sold during the exhibition benefits the college's Alumni Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is awarded annually to a meritorious student of any major and is funded by MICA's Alumni Association. The remaining 50 percent of the sale price of each work sold will be paid to the individual artist. Last year's sale, a 60-40 split in favor of the alumni-artists, drew about 200 participants and netted $3,500 for the scholarship.

An online sale of this year's work takes place June 9-22. Visit the "15x15" Web site to view and purchase.

Meyerhoff Gallery, which is free and open to the public, is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, noon-5 p.m. For more information, call the Alumni Office at 410-225-2397.
