The MICA family will gather in good cheer to dance, laugh, and reminiscence as we pay tribute to Fred and Jonna Lazarus at what promises to be a not-to-be-missed event: Friday, April 25, 2014.

FREDTALKS

Live on stage, President Lazarus will discuss the vision he has had for art and design education and take questions from the audience: Wednesday, April 23, 2014, 2:00–4:00pm, Brown Center, Falvey Hall. This special event is open to the public and will also be live streamed.

Tiny Tributes

Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of MICA are invited to submit postcard size artistic tributes centered on the theme of Fred Lazarus' legacy for the Tiny Tributes exhibition. The collection will be on display at upcoming Legacy events as well as digitally archived and viewable online. Pick up blank postcards at stations around MICA's campus. Click here to learn more.

Legacy Week, April 21-27, 2014

A week of engagement and entertainment celebrating the legacy of MICA's 4th president, and MICA's legacy of changing the world through culture and education over the last 36 years.

  • Monday, April 21, noon–4:00p.m.
    Buttons and Bow Ties
    Where's Fred? Or shall we say where is F-R-E-D? Students, faculty and staff are invited to join us in our Fred-inspired scavenger hunt Buttons & Bow Ties. Collect four buttons, which spell FRED, hidden within selected locations on campus. Be one of the first 200 to find all four and win a limited edition, student-designed Fred bow tie.
    Buttons can be found at the following locations:
    F - Founders Green
    R - Rinehart School of Sculpture (Mt. Royal Station Building)
    E - Meyerhoff House
    D - Brown Center Leidy Atrium
  • Tuesday, April 22, noon–1:00p.m., Main Building, exterior steps
    Bow Tie Mob
    Get "bow-tied" and join us for a group photo with our bow tie aficionado, Fred Lazarus! Students, staff and faculty wearing a bow time are invited to smile for the camera with Fred on the steps of the Main Building. After, we will celebrate the occasion and slice into a confectionery bow tie created by Charm City Cakes and Parkhurst!
