A well-designed facility doesn't need xeroxed wayfinding signs. The mission of an organization should be clear through its space: how it's arranged, what atmosphere it presents and the information it highlights. In non-profits, limited resources understandably hinder environmental design. However, it is here that spatial experience matters most. People seeking assistance should feel welcomed into an organization, and a building should clearly advertise its mission and quality of service inside and out. Working in partnership with the Men and Families Center and Charm City Clinic in East Baltimore, I'm examining inexpensive and efficient solutions to this issue.
