Student Designers

At the annual Experimental Fashion Event, artists and designers from the Fiber Department’s Multi Media Event class transform 2640 (St. John’s Church) into a venue for innovative fashion and costume design by pushing the boundaries of fashion and art through live performances and projected video.

Georgia Caroline Milton

Georgia Caroline Milton was born in Connecticut, but moved around a lot. She is now studying at the Maryland Institute College of Art and will be graduating in May with her BFA in Fibers and a Concentration in Experimental Fashion. Her work consist of sculptural installation and experimental garments. Her garment work is hand draped and patterned, often incorporating manipulated and unconventional materials as accents.

Caroline's line brings a series of fantastical and eclectic characters into being, introducing them to "the real world" through this romantic and spontaneous presentation. They are brought over from their make-believe realm, where they live freely, without the mundane demands of everyday life and the restrictions of society. Their fanciful and extravagant clothes do not encumber them. They dance through their whimsical sanctuary dressed for their perpetual celebration.
