Graduate Tuition, Scholarships & Financial Aid

Since 1826, MICA has offered an outstanding private education in the visual arts, earning its reputation and ranking as one of the top ten visual art & design colleges in the nation. MICA has a commitment to make our programs available to talented students regardless of their economic backgrounds.

Overview

We believe that an education at MICA is an investment that yields a lifetime of personal, intellectual, and professional growth and accomplishment. We realize that the cost of this investment will require careful financial planning. The Offices of Financial Aid and Graduate Admission are committed to helping you find ways to make this education affordable throughout your program of study.

Tuition & Fees

Graduate student tuition & fees are divided into four categories: Fall/Spring Graduate Programs, Summer & Low-Residency Graduate Programs, Online Graduate Programs, and Post-Baccalaureate Programs. More information is available about each category on the left sidebar. Students interested in our join MBA/MA in Design Leadership with Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins University can learn more about tuition & fees on Carey's site.

Scholarship

MICA offers Graduate Merit Scholarships to all admitted degree and certificate students. By completing the Application for Admission, candidates are automatically considered for all available scholarship by the Graduate Review Committee & Graduate Scholarship Committee: no additional application materials are required. Graduate Merit Scholarships can cover anywhere from 10% to 60% of tuition, and awards are based on the overall merit of the application.

Financial Aid

All US citizens & permanent residents are encouraged to complete the FAFSA form to be considered for federal need-based financial aid, typically given in the form of student loans. For more information on the student loan process, visit our Graduate Student Loans section, or studentaid.gov for a comprehensive overview of the loan program.

Graduate Student Employment

MICA does not offer graduate student employment as a part of scholarship and financial aid packages, but on-campus employment is available for all residential and low-residential students. Some positions, like Graduate Teaching Internships, are non-competitive and available to all incoming graduate students. Other positions are competitive and require an application that will be submitted during Graduate Orientation. For a full listing, visit the Graduate Student Employment page.
