The Fred Lazarus IV Center Wood Shop provides woodworking equipment to all MICA students. This studio is equipped for making painting stretchers, cradled panels and many other wood-based projects. Equipment in this shop includes a table saw, miter saw, 2 band saws, drill press, belt/disc sander, jointer, planer, panel saw, track saw, jig saw, orbital sanders, drills, air compressor, pneumatic nailers and staplers, clamps, and a wide variety of hand tools.
Proper attire and footwear is required to work in the wood shop. No loose flowing clothing, open toed shoes or headphones are permitted. Students must be trained on the equipment before using it. Shop technicians are available for assistance during all open shop hours. Only technicians and students who have passed the certification test are allowed to use the table saw.
