Does your research or artistic practice draw you into the community? Do your students conduct interviews, conduct fieldwork, or dialogue with people outside the studio?

This workshop will introduce participants to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process and explore what it means for artists, designers, and educators to conduct ethical research. This session will provide an overview of IRB resources, piloted this school year, that are available to support MICA faculty in identifying when and understanding how to incorporate the IRB process into their classroom practice and MICA based projects.

This workshop will provide n overview of guidelines for faculty interested in pursuing external funding for their research or projects as part of their professional practice, classroom teaching, or work with the community. We will review guidelines for working with MICA's offices of Research and Advancement and will provide a case studies of past Sponsored Projects.
