Malcolm Rio

Malcolm Rio

Malcolm Rio (b. 1989, USA) is a designer, architect and theorist from Baltimore, Maryland. Before coming to MICA, Malcolm attended Rhode Island School of Design on a graduate fellowship for his Master of Architecture. He was recognized by the department with the 2015 Alpha Rho Chi award, for his leadership, professional merit and promise. His thesis work explored the overlap between cybernetics, the structuring of bodies and architectural space. Malcolm obtained his Bachelor of Science in philosophy and Bachelor of Fine Art in graphic design at Towson University. His undergraduate degree project focused on the intersections of image, identity and power, earning him Towson's 2012 Scholarship for Environmental Initiatives.
