Lauren Adams

Lauren Frances Adams attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and graduated with a BFA in 2002. She completed her MFA in 2007 at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has exhibited at the North Carolina Museum of Art (Raleigh), the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (Winston-Salem, NC), the Warhol Museum (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), an ex-Turkish bathhouse (Belgrade, Serbia), Nymans House National Trust (Sussex, England), Royal NoneSuch Gallery (Oakland, California), The Mattress Factory (Pittsburgh, PA), Conner Contemporary (Washington, D.C.), and CUE Art Foundation (New York). She attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and has held residencies at the Cite in Paris, France, Jentel Foundation in Wyoming, among others. She is the recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation MFA Award, a prestigious award given every year to 10 graduating MFA students in the United States. She is a 2014 Sondheim Prize finalist with an exhibition at The Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland, in the summer of 2014. Recent solo exhibitions include a project at EXPO Chicago Art Fair 2012, and an installation at the Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis. Her work is currently on long-term view at American University's Katzen Arts Center in Washington, D.C. Before joining MICA, Lauren was an Assistant Professor at Washington University in St. Louis.
