Community Art Collaborative

Community Art Collaborative

The Community Art Collaborative (CAC) is an AmeriCorps program that partners with artists and organizations to create Community Arts programming in Baltimore City.

Created in 2004, CAC is the only program of its kind in Maryland that links artists, communities, and institutions of K-12 and higher education.  The work of CAC Members (Artists-in-Residence) provides children, youth, and adults with the benefits of after-school, arts-based learning experiences, and strengthens neighborhoods through community art initiatives. We do this work by partnering with impactful nonprofit organizations, schools, museums, and community centers across Baltimore City, who host CAC member artists for year-long residencies.

Each CAC Member has a unique residency experience that is responsive to their community partners. However, all CAC members facilitate K-12 youth arts programming with an emphasis on strengthening youth self-confidence and sense of belonging. CAC Members often pursue additional projects, from community-based Adult and Creative Aging programs, to collaborative public art projects, to community festivals and events, and much more!

The Community Art Collaborative Member application for 2025-26 is now closed. Please stay tuned for future announcements. Check out the top menu for more information about the CAC program, including detailed benefits for members, member bios, partner organizations, and more!

The Community Art Collaborative (CAC) AmeriCorps program is funded in part by a grant from the Maryland Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism (GOSV), and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).
