Blackboard Basics

Finding Blackboard

Navigate to http://blackboard.mica.edu using your favorite web browser. MICA highly encourages the use of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, v 5.0+ (not necessarily because we like Microsoft, but because it is the best browser in terms of reliably displaying the Blackboard site). You should see a screen like the one below:

Click the “Login” button. You should see a login screen like the one shown below. Enter your username and password (same as for the portal) and click the “Login” button.

Your Home Page

Your home page should look like the page shown below.

Click here to view/edit your personal information, such as email address.

Click here to log out when you have completed your Blackboard session.

Click on the “Courses” tab to browse for a specific course.

List of courses you are taking – click a course name to access material.

Your instructor should tell you specifically where you need to go to retrieve required information within your course.
