Blackboard is a web-based application that is available to all MICA faculty members as a way to communicate class information on the web. Blackboard allows you to post information to be viewed by your students, such as syllabi, assignments, readings, images, etc. The information that is posted on Blackboard is available at anytime, so students can find information related to the course from anywhere with an internet connection, at any time of the day or night. Blackboard also features integrated discussion board and chat utilities where teachers and students can hold online discussions. The content of these discussions/chats is automatically archived by Blackboard so that it can be revisited at any time by members of the course.

Getting Started
Any faculty member is welcome to use Blackboard. If you have an interest, please feel free to schedule a training session or consultation to see if Blackboard might be right for your course or teaching style.
All you need to do to get started is contact the Office of Technology Help Desk and state exactly which course(s) you wish to teach using Blackboard for a given semester. If possible, please include the 5-digit class number (e.g. 14329) and course ID with section (e.g. SS-300-A) for each class.
