MICA's Community Art Corps (CAC), an AmeriCorps service program, places and trains visual artists in community-based organizations and city schools in under-resourced neighborhoods throughout Baltimore City. CAC members design and implement high quality programs that facilitate self-expression and encourage critical thinking and leadership skills that ultimately translate into better grades, higher SAT scores, and greater community involvement. With only 133 art teachers to serve 82,500 Baltimore City students-a ratio of 1 teacher for every 620 students-CAC plays a vital role in satisfying the unmet need for arts-based programming in Baltimore.

Since 2004, MICA has hosted the Community Art Corps, which is administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service and the Maryland Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism.
