Books

The Reference book collection includes two types of resources which are filed together in the Reference section of the Library:
  • Ready Reference books provide concise, authoratative entries on many individual subjects, tied together by a common theme. Like a dictionary or encyclopedia, the entries often have an alphabetical arrangement for quick access. Patrons may be familiar with reference books like Webster's Dictionary or Encyclopedia Britannica, yet here, one can also access more specific subjects like A Dictionary of Symbols, or ...isms: Understanding Art.

  • Reference books may be introductory in essence, yet provide a more in-depth view of specific subjects. In our collection, this includes the most complete and best-illustrated catalogues on important artists and museum collections.
