Max Andersson was born in 1962 in Karesuando, Sweden. He studied graphic design in Stockholm and then film production at New York University. After producing a number of award-winning short films, including four shorts collected in the videocassette Nail Films (1998), he turned to comics in the late 1980s. His graphic novel Pixy, first published in 1992, has so far been translated into seven languages, and his art has appeared in magazines across Europe, North America, and Asia. In Germany his work has been collected into three issues of the comic book Container, and in the U.S. his solo comic Death & Candy has been published regularly since 1999. Andersson currently lives and works in Berlin.
