About this Gallery
Words on Wheels is a poetry contest open to all Baltimore City Public Schools students and funded by the Goldsmith Family Foundation and Eastern Saving Bank. Now in its 10th year, Words on Wheels represents a collective effort between Baltimore City Public Schools, The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), and MICA. The winning poem submissions become the inspiration for MICA illustration students, who design the MTA poster artwork based on the themes in the poems. The MTA displays the final posters on buses and light rail trains throughout the city. This year, for the first time, posters will be printed in both English and Spanish.
