Woven into the class is an historical understanding of the production of steel and its particular history in Baltimore. It teaches skills, including the welding and fabrication of steel and the casting of aluminum and bronze in the foundry; various mold making techniques, including plaster molds and ceramic shell investment. The class emphasizes the mastery of technical skills and the development of the student’s personal vision.
