Nana Okomfo Ohemaa Akua Njinga Nyamekye and Nkenge Toure

Nana Okomfo Ohemaa Akua Njinga Nyamekye is an Akan Priest. She is the Chief Priest of the Light of Afrika Ohene Kra Konmude Shrine. Nkenge Toure is the host of In Our Voices, a weekly, one-hour program on WPFW in Washington, DC as well as the executive producer of “Sofie’s Parlor,” a Women’s music and politics collective, also airing weekly on WPFW.

Connie Felder

After observing the distribution of Panther literature in W. Baltimore, Connie Felder became interested in the Black Panther Party at the young age of 18. After reading The 10 Point Plan, she decided to become an active member in the Baltimore chapter.

Sandi McFadden

Sandi McFadden

Sandi McFadden is a native of Philadelphia, PA, and has been a resident of Baltimore, MD for the past fifteen years. She is a graduate of Bennett College in Greensboro, NC, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and History. She attended Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated with a Master of Arts in Religion with a special emphasis on Christian Education.

Leila McDowell

Leila McDowell

Leila McDowell joined the Black Panther Party in Seattle while in High School. She was primarily involved in selling party papers, working at the free breakfast program, assisting the party to prepare the offices against police assault and engaging community members in dialogue about the party's goals.

Rank and File Exhibition

This major traveling exhibition, with an accompanying Baltimore-specific oral history project and resource room, as well as a full slate of public events, offers rare insights into one of the 20th century’s most controversial and influential organizations. Black Panther Rank and File was organized by Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, curated by Claude Simard, curator at Jack Shainman Gallery, and René de Guzman, director of visual arts at Yerba Buena.
