Exhibition Development Seminar: Curatorial

Lisa Rigby

“It’s exciting to live during a time when the production and use of maps is increasing on an exponential scale due to the advancement of technology. Our perceptions of what maps can be are expanding into unexpected directions.”

Lisa Rigby, a returning Exhibition Development Seminar (EDS) student, is a senior art history theory and criticism major from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Lisa spent two years working in the EDS class producing the At Freedom’s Door: Challenging Slavery in Maryland exhibition, where she describes the project as an incredible experience during which she learned a great deal about collaboration, communication, and compromise. In 2005, Lisa’s paintings were featured in MICA’s Foundation Exhibition and in the 53rd Annual Exhibition of the Keisho Art Association in Nagoya, Japan. Her other interests includes contemporary literature and theater.
