The video and film arts department offers both a major and studio concentration, creating a community of artists exploring installation, documentary, narrative, and experimental genres within the dynamic creative environment of one of the nation’s top art colleges.     MICA Faculty's Documentary Wins an Oscar

    "Music by Prudence," a documentary short subject film co-produced by Patrick Wright, chair of MICA’s video and film arts department, has won an Oscar. Errol Webber Jr. ’08 is the youngest cinematographer ever to shoot an Oscar-winning film. Several of Wright’s students interned on the project.

    Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) hosts Israeli documentary film director, cinematographer, producer, editor and academic scholar Dan Geva as a Spring 2010 Schusterman Visiting Artist with funding from the Joseph and Harvey Meyerhoff Family Charitable Funds. This spring, Geva will participate in public film screening events at MICA and with partner organizations in Baltimore as well as teach two classes in a collaborative program between MICA’s video and film arts department and the film and media studies program at Johns Hopkins University.

    Dan Geva, an Israeli director, cinematographer, producer, editor, and academic scholar comes to Baltimore in spring 2010 teaching two classes between MICA's Video and Film Arts Department and the Film and Media Studies program at Johns Hopkins University.

  7. Magmart | Video under Volcano, International Videoart Festival

    The festival activity will end with the screening of all videos participant along three days, scheduled for March, at the prestigious house of Palazzo delle Arti Napoli (PAN), in the midtown of the city, followed by the screening of 30 selected videos at Casoria Contemporary Art Museum (CAM), in a great night event, with a screening of a selection from other famous video art festivals scheduled for April.
